Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents and students want to know before calling us.

About the Service

Who is the Campus Dad?
I'm a lifelong Springfield resident, dad of two, and the person behind Campus Dad. My daughter is at OSU and my son is a HS student here at home, so I know firsthand what it feels like to worry about a kid who's on their own. I've spent decades working on cars, doing home repairs, fixing electronics, and tackling projects big and small. I started this because I wanted every parent to have someone trustworthy in their corner — someone with the skills and the heart to look out for their kid the way I'd want someone looking out for mine.
What areas do you serve?
We currently serve Eugene & Springfield, OR and Corvallis & Albany, OR — covering the University of Oregon and Oregon State University areas. If you're just outside these areas, reach out anyway — we'll do our best to help or point you in the right direction.

Pricing & Payment

How much does it cost?
Our standard rates start at $49 for quick fixes, $99 for hands-on help, and $75 for advisory visits. If a job runs longer than expected, additional time is billed at $35/hour. You'll always know the cost before we start — no surprises.
What's included in the membership?
For $29/month (or $249/year — summer's on us), members get priority response times, 25% off all services, a monthly check-in text with your student, and a free seasonal car checkup (tires, fluids, air, wipers & more). No contracts — cancel anytime.
What if I'm not happy with the service?
We stand behind our work with a full satisfaction guarantee. If you're not completely happy with the help your student received, we'll make it right — or you don't pay. No arguments, no fine print.
How do I pay?
We accept all major credit cards, Venmo, and Zelle. Payment is collected after the job is complete and you're satisfied. Members are billed monthly via card on file.

Booking & Logistics

How quickly can someone come out?
We aim to respond within 2 hours and can often be on-site the same day. Members get priority scheduling. For non-urgent jobs, we can usually schedule within 24–48 hours.
Can a parent book on behalf of their student?
Absolutely — that's actually how most bookings happen. Parents call or submit the request form, and we coordinate directly with the student for access and timing. We'll keep you in the loop the whole way.
What if the job is bigger than expected?
We'll always let you know before going beyond the original scope. You'll never be billed for extra work without your approval first. If it's a bigger job than we can handle, we'll refer you to someone trustworthy.
Do you work weekends?
Yes! We're available Monday–Friday 8am–8pm, Saturday 9am–6pm, and Sunday 10am–4pm. Members can also reach us outside these hours for true emergencies.

Meet Your Dad Before He Shows Up

Can we talk to the Campus Dad before booking?
Absolutely — we encourage it. Before we send anyone out, we're happy to set up a quick phone or video call so you and your student can get a feel for who's coming. We want everyone to feel comfortable, not just willing to tolerate it.
What if we don't click with the helper assigned to us?
No hard feelings — just let us know. We'll find someone who's a better fit. There's no obligation to proceed with any helper you're not 100% comfortable with. Getting the right match matters more to us than just filling the job.
How do I know the helper is who they say they are?
Every Campus Dad helper carries a Campus Dad ID card and will introduce themselves by name when they arrive. You'll also receive a text confirmation with the helper's name and a brief bio before they show up — so your student knows exactly who to expect at the door.
Can a parent be on the phone during the visit?
Of course. We get it — you're trusting a stranger in your kid's space. You're welcome to be on a video call the entire time if that helps you feel better. Our helpers won't mind at all. That's just good parenting.

For Students

Is it weird to call Campus Dad?
Not at all. Our helpers are warm, non-judgmental, and genuinely happy to help. They're not going to make you feel bad for not knowing how to change a tire or hang a curtain rod. That's literally why we exist.
Will my parents know what I called about?
If a parent booked the service, we'll give them a general update that the job was completed. We keep the details between you and us unless there's a safety concern. If you booked it yourself, it's entirely private.
